My Boy
In part 4, the Narrator watches an exchange between a mother who is demanding to see her son and a Real soul she knew in life.
(Note: I used delay and reverb to try to distinguish the voices apart. I’d love some feedback on whether it worked. Ideally I’d like to have a female vox sing the majority of this so I’d like some feedback on that idea as well.)
Lost soul – Blue Text
Real soul – Black Text
Lyrics:
Where oh where is my boy
Why are you hiding him from me
I’m the only one that truly cares for him
I’m the only one who can make him happy
You’ve no right to keep him from me
I who loved him more than anyone
What must I do to see him
I would do anything for my son
This is not about your son
but about your very soul
He can not see you
until you’ve been made whole
He was so good
With his bright blue eyes
and his silly jokes
He was so young
You took him from me
You took him too young
He was everything to me
Bring back my boy
It’s not right to keep him away
I’ve kept his memory alive
I thought you were all so good
Without my boy I won’t survive
He might be happy now
But it won’t last without me
You turned his place into a shrine
while your husband grieved alone
You turned his name into a charm
and your heart into a stone
You say I must let him go
That he is happy and complete
You deny my right to have him
Well I’ll tell you something more
I would rather have him with me
down there in that hell
than be without him for one minute more
HE’S MY BOY
MINE
MY BOY
