November Solo Album Writing

During the month of November, a new songwriting challenge starts: National Solo Album Month or NaSoAlMo. The challenge is similar to FAWM and other such challenges. The rules are 30 minutes of recorded material and no more than one cover song. Some fawmers have expressed a desire to participate in this challenge, so we are adding a few features to the site to be able to help you on yoru goal to a completed album. More details below...

Rocktober Cover Song Challenge

The 50 Songs in 90 Days songwriting Challenge is finished for 2008 and the brave participants wrote nearly 4000 songs in 90 days! You can check out the details at the 5090 fawm site . So to keep the ball rolling, a few of the songwriters decided they wanted to try doing a different challenge to keep the creativity flowing. Songwriting As Homework

During February Album Writing Month, one of the goals is to develop your songwriting "muscle". Songwriting is a craft that requires practice to perfect. The more you write, the easier it is to work with the components of songwriting, to see and develop new themes, new musical structures, and to sharpen songs. Just like playing an instrument, it is a skill that requires practice.
